Crimpdeq Retrofit Kit by tensr.fitness
Turns a common luggage scale into a commercial-grade-gym Bluetooth force sensor.
How this fits in
This kit assumes you already have (or will pick up) a Weiheng WH-C06, WH-C07, or WH-C100 luggage scale — ~$25 on Amazon. We don’t resell scales; you bring the scale, we upgrade it.
If you train with bands, cables, or suspension straps and you’re tired of guessing whether this set was harder than last set, here’s the lay of the land:
- A Tindeq Progressor ($220+) is solid reference-grade hardware — a great standard to judge against. But you don’t need one to decide if this style of recording a workout is for you. A WH luggage scale from Amazon for under $30 can get you started — and this kit is here when you want more from it.
- A stock WH-C06 / C07 / C100 ($25) is cheap and honest, but the factory BLE protocol caps it at 8 samples per second. Fine for a peak-pull number; not enough to compute rate of force development, it rounds your tempo to the nearest 125 ms, and it under-counts every twitchy rep.
- This kit ($59.99, plus the WH scale you provide) keeps the WH’s mechanical guts — they’re actually fine — and replaces the parts holding back the data: the BLE board, the firmware, and the anchor hardware. You end up with an 80 Hz sensor for the price of a nice pair of shoes.
What’s in the box
- ESP32-C3 BLE module — replaces the WH’s factory radio. Speaks the same BLE characteristic the tensr.fitness app already supports for Tindeq, so no app changes are required to use it.
- Crimpdeq high-rate firmware — pre-flashed. 80 Hz output, drift- corrected, with a documented protocol so you (or anyone) can talk to it from any BLE-capable tool.
- Load-cell harness + steel anchor — replaces the plastic strap that ships on a stock WH. Rated for direct band/cable load up to 250 kg / 550 lb.
- Carabiner + 12 mm webbing loop — clip into anything: rack pin, cable column, TRX, gym ring, doorway anchor.
- Printed install guide — 15-minute swap with a Phillips screwdriver and a soldering iron. No firmware tooling required; the module is pre-flashed.
What you get that a stock WH can’t give you
| Capability | Stock WH-C06 | Tindeq Progressor | WH + this kit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sample rate | 8 Hz | 80 Hz | 80 Hz |
| Time under tension | Approximate | Honest | Honest |
| Impulse (force × time) | Coarse | Accurate | Accurate |
| Rate of force development | Not reliable | Yes | Yes |
| Direct anchor load (kg) | Plastic strap | 150 kg | 250 kg |
| Price (USD) | ~$25 | ~$300 | $25 + $59.99 |
Why $59.99 to upgrade a $25 part?
Honest answer: small batch sizes are eating our lunch. The WH luggage scale is mass-produced by the millions; this kit is built in runs of dozens. At that scale, every line on the BOM costs many multiples of what the same part costs Tindeq.
- PCB fab + assembly. Setup cost is the same whether you order 50 boards or 5,000. Spread that fixed cost over 50 units and the per-board number is brutal.
- Steel hardware in small lots. Anchors, load-cell harnesses, certified carabiners — bought by the dozen, not the pallet. Roughly 3× the per-unit price a volume buyer pays.
- Hand assembly + bench test. Each kit is soldered, flashed, pull-tested, and serialised by a human before it ships. People-time, not robot-time.
As batches grow, the price comes down. We know early buyers are taking on that risk — which is why your kit ships as a numbered, signed founders edition with 18 months of tensr Pro on the house. Thanks for taking a chance on us.
Who this is for
- The data-geek home-gym lifter. You already own a WH-C06. You’ve seen its limits in the tensr.fitness app. You want the next tier without paying Progressor money.
- Coaches programming band work at scale. You need objective data from athletes who won’t spend $300 on a sensor — but might spend $150 once.
- Physical therapists running banded protocols. Documentation-grade force-time curves at a price your clinic can hand out and not chase back.
What this is not
How it works with the tensr.fitness app
- Install the kit. 15 minutes, one screwdriver, one soldering iron. Printed guide in the box; full video walkthrough on the notes.
- Pair in the app. Open app.tensr.fitness in Chrome or Edge, click Pair sensor, pick the WH-Crimpdeq device. The app recognises it as an 80 Hz source automatically — RFD and ms-precision tempo metrics light up.
- Train. Clip in between your anchor and your handle. Hit start. Every set gets the full force-time curve, time under tension, impulse, peak force, and session-over-session comparisons. All local. All exportable. Yours.
Honest fine print
- You provide the WH scale. We don’t resell luggage scales. ~$25 on Amazon: WH-C06, WH-C07, or WH-C100.
- Compatible models: WH-C06, WH-C07, WH-C100. Other WH SKUs may work but aren’t tested.
- Soldering required. Two pads. If that’s a no-go for you, the Tindeq Progressor is the right product.
- Ships from Spain (Crimpdeq) — typical US delivery 7–10 business days.
- Warranty: 12 months on the electronics, against manufacturing defects. Send a video, we’ll ship a replacement.
